Adobe Reader has been found to contain a zero day exploit just days after Adobe released fixes for their Adobe Flash software. Researchers at FireEye uncovered the exploit and say that it is being actively exploited in the wild.

According to FireEye, “Upon successful exploitation, it will drop two DLLs. The first DLL shows a fake error message and opens a decoy PDF document, which is usually common in targeted attacks. The second DLL in turn drops the callback component, which talks to a remote domain.”

Until a fix is released, extra care should be taken to only open PDF files from trusted sources.
